Student Voice
Previous findings have indicated that negotiating curriculum with students can have a significant impact on student voice, participation, self-direction, wellbeing and agency through learning that really matters to them. This reflective work can support the Principles and Key Skills of the Junior Cycle and prepare students for reforms at Senior Cycle based on competency frameworks. It will also allow students to take a leadership role in demonstrating the practical realisation of authentic student voice and Democratic Education for other schools to learn from.
Teacher Voice
NEEDS represents a significant professional development opportunity for teachers collaborating with other like-minded teachers on authentic approaches to operationalising student voice and agency. For the teachers directly involved in NEEDS, our Close-to-practice research approaches will develop your own research capacity and support reflection on practice.
